
In the beginning
All great concepts begin as a simple idea. Appletiser is no exception. The vision of Edmond Lombardi, Appletiser is developed with the help of Swiss technology. Together they create a healthy, lightly carbonated refreshing apple drink.

1966
What is a great concept without a great name? Lombardi introduces his crisp, clear creation as Appletiser. The name is created by combining the words "Apple" and "Appetizer". Appletiser achieves national distribution in September 1966.

1968
Appletiser is so delicious that further export markets are opened. The Middle and Far East, Africa, Hong Kong, the Congo, Rhodesia, Swaziland, Lesotho and even England all sip the fruits of Lombardi's labour.

1969
Japan and the Canary Islands are added to the export list. Appletiser is now enjoyed in various countries all over the world.

1979
Appletiser is so popular, that it attracts the attention of the Coca-Cola Company. The beverage giant is so impressed by the sparkling apple drink, that it purchases a 50% stake in it.

1981
The Appletiser family announces two new arrivals, Red and White Grapetiser. 100% pure sparkling grape juice with a distinct Muscat bouquet, Red Grapetiser has a rich full-bodied taste, while its sister White Grapetiser is crisp, fruity and refreshing.

1982
The sparkling Appletiser family catches the attention of South African Breweries and Appletise International is formed. "Appletise" - the name used in international markets, is launched in the United Kingdom.

1997
Appletiser is a marketing success, both locally and abroad. Hard work deserves to be rewarded. The MacMillan Interbrand Survey recognises Appletiser as one of the world's top three hundred brands.

2001
The decision is made to standardise the Appletiser brand name, packaging and positioning all around the world.

2004
Appletiser is re-launched. To fit in with its new positioning, a contemporary, stylish green bottle is designed and launched globally.

2005
Appletiser celebrates its 40th birthday with another addition to the family, Peartiser. The sparkling pear juice is met with instant approval.

2006
The Appletiser success story continues with Appletiser product launch in North America.

2007
The Appletiser success story continues with the launch of D'lightiser.

2008
The Appletiser logo is updated and a new pay-off line, "Deliciously Good For Me", is launched. The new line actively communicates the product benefits, along with the great taste, to consumers.

2009
The Appletiser range is now endorsed by the 5-a-Day for Better Health Trust.5-a-Day encourages South Africans to eat more vegetables and fruit for better health,in line with the World Health Organisations daily recommendation of at least 400g of a variety of vegetables and fruit each day in the form of a minimum of five 80g servings.
